Telecommunication giant, Safaricom, has launched a promotion dubbed “The Shukrani KochoKocho Kenya Nzima” that seeks to celebrate and reward their more than 29 million customers for their continued loyalty.

During the ten-week campaign, more than 5 million Safaricom customers across the country will be rewarded with more than Sh 250 million in prizes and another 100 Safaricom customers will walk away with a Sh 1 million cash prize each.

Eight winners from each of the eight regions will be rewarded with Sh 1 million every week. In the Grand Finale, one winner from each of the 47 counties will be rewarded with Sh 1 million.

“There will also be ten weekly draws for each of the regions which will see more than 500,000 customers win cash prizes of Sh 1,000. More than 5 million customers will also stand to win daily airtime prizes,” a statement from the company indicates.

To participate in the promotion, one will earn ten entries for every Sh 20 top-up, and one entry for every Sh 20 transacted on M-PESA. Qualifying M-PESA transactions include sending money, receiving money from a business, transfers from a financial institution to M-PESA, and all Lipa Na M-PESA transactions.

The Promotion started on Feb 19 and will run for the next 10 weeks (ends on April 28, 2019). It is worth noting that the goal of the exercise is to give incentives to Safaricom users to use more of the telco’s products and services. Shukrani kochokocho FAQs

It will be conducted on a regional and county basis, meaning rewards will be based on the location of participants. This implies that the Promotion aims to evenly distribute the bonuses across the nation to maintain its authenticity, uniformity and cohesion.

The location of subscribers will be determined at the start of the campaign based on their favourite whereabouts in the past 90 days. Of course, there is an option to change your position (by dialling *456#). However, a customer needs to be physically present in the location.

Shukrani kochokocho is available to all adult Safaricom subscribers (above 18 years of age). However, corporate and SME and roaming subscribers will not be eligible.

Nelson Mandela once said: “A critical, independent, and investigative press is the lifeblood of any democracy. The press must be free from state interference. It must have the economic strength to stand up to the blandishments of government officials. It must have sufficient independence from vested interests to be bold and inquiring without fear or favor. It must enjoy the protection of the constitution, so that it can protect our rights as citizens.”
